The fence is also new since The Brady Bunch was filmed, added when the owner grew frustrated with rude people walking up and peering into her living room. The house made its debut in the second episode of The Brady Bunch and appeared in almost every one of the 115 episodes that ensued. I was in awe of the living room and so badly wanted a picture. Brandon and Brenda Walsh did not actually live in the zip code or Beverly Hills. Parking to take a photo at this particular home was not as easy as some of the others. The street is not very wide so you cannot pull off to the side very easily.

According to the series, the Charmed house was built in 1898, which may be close, according to a historic plaque mounted across the street. The Sowden House, like The Derby House, was designed by Lloyd Wright in 1926. The house is known for its unique design and colorful history. You used to be able to tour the house but now the new owners only make it available to the public during special events.

The Chateau style home was built in 1909 by Rollin B. Lane. Ownership of the house remained with the Lane family until 1955. In 1963 the home became The Magic Castle, home to the Academy of Magical Arts. If you ever have the chance to step inside this spectacular place please do not hesitate to do so.
About last night…thanks to @yielddesignco for inviting us into the sowden house and introducing us to your black dahlia cbd candle. That was epic and a long time dream of mine to see inside this historic lloyd wright house. This house was created by Frank Gehry for him and his family in 1978. He changed an existing house and turned it into something truly unique.

Visiting the grounds of this beautiful mansion is a favorite of both locals and tourists. It is free to visit the grounds though occasionally the opportunity will become available to tour the inside for a fee. You can read about my visit here in my post on Greystone Mansion. The Eames House, also known as case study #8, is mid-20th century modern architecture. The house was designed by the couple Ray and Charles Eames to serve as their home and studio.

The Gamble House in Pasadena is one of my favorite homes to visit. It is filled with fascinating details and a tour is well worth your time. I recommend visiting The Gamble House to admire the architecture and history as much as I recommend visiting it as a filming location. I have toured the house for free on two different occasions which you can read about here. This is Doc Brown’s house in the Back to the Future trilogy.
The house pictured is where the Heck family lived in The Middle. The craftsman-style house is located near downtown Long Beach. North of Long Beach in San Pedro you can find the spot that was used for the school Anchor Beach on the series which you can read about in this post. While the majority of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off was filmed on location in Chicago, there were a few scenes that were filmed in the LA area. The exterior scenes of the Bueller house were among the ones filmed on the West Coast.

If you’re a horror movie fan, you must drive by the Nightmare on Elm Street house. It’s located in Los Angeles, and the iconic view you get from the street makes it well worth the trip. It’s currently closed to the public and no tours are available.
The Derby House was built for businessman James Derby, though due to a separation with his wife he would never live here. The textile blocks are supposed to help keep the interior bright. From the photos that I have seen online the inside looks really interesting. This adorable home stands out on the Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica. The rumor is that this house was owned by Ruth Handler, the creator of Barbie. You can park in one of the beach parking lots and walk down to the home or park by one of the neighbors.
This home and park have such a wonderful variety of activities for visitors. You can tour the home (during non-covid times), go horseback riding, hiking, attend movie nights over the summer, and polo games. Will Rogers was a popular actor in the early days of Hollywood.
Isaac and Selena had apparently hidden a clock within the walls of the house before they died, and Jonathan has been trying to find the clock and discover its purpose. Despite Jonathan's cautions, Lewis begins teaching himself magic. If you want an in-person tour you’ll have to book in advance, and the city does require proof of vaccination to tour it. According to the Los Angeles Times, this house was newly built but the owner hadn't yet moved into it because of construction on the Ventura Freeway, which now runs behind it.
The House with a Clock in Its Walls is 2461 on the JustWatch Daily Streaming Charts today. The movie has moved up the charts by 901 places since yesterday. In the United States, it is currently more popular than Black Rose but less popular than Tourist Trap.

There are so many different ways that we are spoiled in Southern California but the incredible variety of homes that we can visit is truly something special. Please note that not all of the homes on this list are open to the public but I will make sure to specify which ones are available for you to visit vs which ones you can drive by.
